Lowell Ice Bucket Challenge

We did it!  The Lowell staff was nominated to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket challenge and each staff member was able to have 2 of their kiddos pour the water on us at an all school assembly.  This was a lot of fun for everyone involved, the kids loved it, and it was a great opportunity for the kids of Lowell to get involved in a charity event.  Enjoy our video! 🙂

We have nominated everyone down at ESC (Educational Service Center) to complete the challenge next.

I would say the staff at Lowell is pretty darn cool!  It’s a great day to be a Lowell Cougar!

IMG_4213Oh my!  It feels so good to be back.  I’ve missed all of you wonderful readers, parents, and my students!!  You know I like to have a “theme” for each year and this year is all about bringing out the SUPER hero reader in each of you!  So DROP on in to Ms. Acuff’s room and read a SUPER book!

Also, don’t forget to visit us at Lowell tonight for our Back To School night from 4:30-6.  You can meet your teacher and drop off your school supplies.  We can’t wait to see you!

Grow At Lowell

IMG_8132Groups officially started this week and I AM EXCITED!!!!  I have many familiar faces and some new faces this year.  We kicked off groups by community building.

At home I painted my hand and arm and put it on the paper to make it look like the tree.  I brought it to school and had each student and myself put their finger on a green stamp pad and put their finger print on a branch.

I told the students that I am like a tree.  I will provide them with knowledge much like a tree provides nutrients for the leaves.  I will be the nutrients for their brain.  We will learn and grow with each other this year.  I put my “leaf” on the tree, too, because I will learn this year as well.

We will make mistakes, we will mispronounce words, we will get stuck, we will not be perfect, but that’s OK.  We are a family when we come into this room and we will build each other up so we all can be the best that we can be.

We have our family tree hanging up on the wall proudly.

I am so honored and privileged to be working with your child this year.  We are working hard so please check back in with us to see what we are doing.  2013-2014 is going to be a GREAT school year!  Go Cougars!

Hey everyone!  I’m so, so, so excited to share with you the newest video we made as a promotion for our bookstore.  It’s absolutely adorable and I hope you love it as much as we made making it!
